I wonder if they would ever consider letting cavers rappel from the Skywalk? It could be better than Bridge Day..... First steps on skywalk over Grand CanyonHUALAPAI INDIAN RESERVATION, Arizona (AP) -- Indian leaders and former astronauts stepped gingerly beyond the Grand Canyon's rim Tuesday, staring through the glass floor and into the 4,000-foot chasm below during the opening ceremony for a new observation deck. A few members of the Hualapai Indian Tribe, which allowed the Grand Canyon Skywalk to be built, hopped up and down on the horseshoe-shaped structure. I wonder if they would ever consider letting cavers rappel from the Skywalk? It could be better than Bridge Day..... I saw the skywalk last night on the news. Since they are doing this to encourage tourism in the area, they might allow both rappelling and BASE jumping for an additional fee. ;D From the article:

I’m sad to report that it seems that the true vertical drop may be only a few hundred feet. It is 4000' to the river below, but a rope would hang free a very short distance of that. Seems folks have already been looking on Google Earth and such sites to find out how long a true drop might be. Still would be a great ride!

I’m sad to report that it seems that the true vertical drop may be only a few hundred feet. It is 4000' to the river below, but a rope would hang free a very short distance of that. Seems folks have already been looking on Google Earth and such sites to find out how long a true drop might be. Still would be a great ride! Party Pooper! ;D ;D
